BIOSHIELD Fair and Conference at University North

On 15 May 2026, University North hosted the BIOSHIELD Fair and Conference, bringing together students, visiting professors and representatives of the food industry to explore topics connected with the project. The event opened with a roundtable discussion, “Food 2050: Challenges, Innovations, and New Habits.” Participants from industry discussed how climate change, sustainability and changing consumer expectations could shape the future of food production. The conversation highlighted the need for cooperation between researchers, students and businesses to turn new ideas into practical solutions.

Two sessions of student presentations followed. Students shared their work on topics related to the BIOSHIELD project and had the opportunity to discuss their ideas with visiting professors and other participants.

BIOSHIELD was also presented during Connect Week, a University North event that brings together the academic community and external partners to exchange knowledge and build connections. Visitors from industry learned about the project’s goals and activities, generating strong interest and new opportunities for discussion. The event showed the value of giving students a platform to present their ideas while connecting project activities with the people and organisations working on the challenges facing the food sector.
